Have you noticed your designs are looking a little flat? Maybe you're just looking for an "edge" to stand out above your competitors.
This tip may help.
Whether you are a digital designer, physical seller, or just a hobbyist; perfecting your design skills will help set you apart from others. I think the easiest skill to learn is the offset/slice.
If you know how to create an offset, this will be easy peasy!
Step 1: You're going to want to create your design. Here I have created some text for this example. Take your design and place it so a portion of the design (see "fund") overlaps the remaining portion of your design (see "vacation").
Step 2: Select the overlapping design you would like to emphasize and find your offset function. It is the function that creates an outline of your image/font similar to what is shown in blue (above). I typically tend to do a smaller offset, it really depends on what you would like your design to look like.
This is best done over thicker fonts/lines or larger designs where you can be careful not to slice off too much where the design/word you are slicing through is unrecognizable.
After offsetting the preferred portion of your design, select the offset and find your "slice" button. As above, depending on the program your are using it could be named something else. Essentially, you will be removing the portion of the design where your offset lays (see where the blue is removed in the image below)
There you go! You are on your way to becoming a design pro! If you have more of your design that needs slicing, now is the time. Follow the above steps to finish your designs!
